Mounts opening pre season games going well so far

Wed 28th Jul, 2010 12:44pm
Thurrock Reserves 3-2 Mountnessing Mount kicked off their pre season campaign with a very good run out against a young and very fit Thurrock side despite the scoreline there were many positives to come out of last nites game. Everybody who has worked hard in our opening pre season training sessions was given a run last nite and everybody worked hard with new boys nicky savage, William Langford and young forward josh all impressing aswell,(this was all done in a new attacking formation of 4 3 3. Regualars from last season Scotty Williams and Barry Fox got Mounts goals but were edged out in the last 5 mins with a very good strike from Thurrocks young forward, manager John Field would like to thank the management at Thurrock for putting on the game and making us all feel very welcome. Our next game is at elmbridge sports ground Sat 24th July 15.00 k/o against Barkinside fc. Barkingside 2 -1 Mountnessing (pre season friendly) Another good run out for all the boys that have been working hard in training with a decent display against a senior side which is only a couple of weeks away from the start of their season. We again started with our new formation 4 3 3 and with each game that passes, the team seem to be grasping what is needed from this system. Barkinside started the stronger and took the lead after 20 min quite luckily but after that we got back into it and linked up well. We were caught a bit short after a decent attack and conceded another on a breakaway, but our heads didn’t drop and a very good solo goal from trialist Micheal Odou pulled one back and in the end were unlucky not to get an equaliser… Our next game is at home to Grays Athletic 15.00 31st Aug. Brentwood Town 1 -1 Mountnessing (pre season friendly) Things improved again last nite and a few boys are grasping the opportunity to force their way into the side. Brentwood got a late equaliser but Mount should of won by a least a couple, new recruit Brad Ross had a glorious chance to open the scoring within 10 mins but missed from close range, George Shelvey was also one to impress hitting the woodwork twice and going on some mazy runs which eventually got him and Mounts goal from the penalty spot. Others impressed including Luke Pain and wideman Sion with the games coming thick and fast everyone needs to start taking their chances. Next game home to Grays Athletic 15.00 k/o sat 31st July.
